If you are visiting the city of Orlando in Florida with a family that includes small children, the chances are that you're here to visit Disney - or, to put it more correctly, Walt Disney World Resort. We hope you enjoy your stay here and we hope that you and your family have a wonderful time at this world-famous resort that has really put Orlando on the map.
Visiting Walt Disney World Resort is a dream for many families, but all too often, parents get caught up in the fun of it all and forget about the logistics. You have to do a lot of behind the scenes work to ensure that your vacation and your trip to Disney World go smoothly with nothing but good memories. If you do your planning properly ahead of time, then this should be possible.
First of all, let's think about the issue of getting around in the resort itself. This is where you need to think about stroller rental - Disney World is impossible to get through comfortably with small children without a decent baby jogger or baby stroller. And, as many parents have found, it can be a real hassle trying to bring your own stroller from home on an airplane - it's just an extra bit of luggage to collect and an extra bit of weight to collect excess baggage charges. So a stroller is a real must, and the easiest solution to getting one is to consider stroller rental. Disney World goes so much more smoothly when you don't have to carry all the bits and pieces that a small child needs around on your back - and possibly the small child in question, too.
When you have sorted out the issue of stroller rental, Disney World itself awaits. This resort contains four major theme parks, and each one deserves at least a whole day to appreciate fully. You have to think about taking the whole day out when you get your "day bags" ready (and if you've chosen the right sort of rental stroller, you should have lots of space to put the all the odds and ends so you don't have to cart them about on your back). Depending on the age of your child, you are likely to need most of the following:
Diapers. Take more than you need, and maybe a plastic bag to hold the dirties just in case the disposal bins are full. Along with the diapers, you'll also need bit like wet wipes and diaper rash cream.
Sunblock. Florida's sunlight is very strong - stronger than you'd expect if you're coming from colder states or parts of the world. Young skins are more sensitive than adults' skins to UV rays and burn more easily. Sunblock is a must for you and your child, although your child can get some protection from the sun with a sunshade or hood on a baby stroller - something to consider when you look at stroller rental. Disney World can get ruined by bad sunburn, so don't let it happen to you.
A rain jacket for you and for your children. This part of Florida is practically in the tropics, so we get tropical downpours as part of our climate that sometimes catch visitors out. A lightweight rain jacket is easy to tuck into a backpack or the luggage compartment of a stroller. Of course, the same hood that protects your child from the sun should also be able to protect your child from the rain (yet another thing to think about when it comes to stroller rental Disney World).
Spare clothes. Small children do get messy easily and even if your child has been toilet trained, accidents can happen, especially when waiting in queues. Take at least one spare pair of pants (or a skirt for girls) plus underthings.
Snacks. Your children will be excited and this will make them burn off a lot of energy. The last thing you want is for your child to get hungry, tired and cranky, because this will ruin their day and yours. And hunger can strike a child at inconvenient moments when you're waiting in line. So pack some convenient healthy snacks in your luggage in handy easy-to-get at places in and around the stroller. Good portable snacks include nuts (unless your child is allergic to them), muesli bars, dried fruit, fresh fruit, crackers and cookies.
Drinks. As we mentioned before, Orlando gets pretty hot. Dehydration is another thing that can get kids (and adults!) grumpy. Having a drink of something cold and refreshing can be a great way to help a child wait in a long line for a popular attraction. A chiller pack to hold cold drinks is another good feature to look out for when deciding on the right stroller rental, Disney World being such a hot place and everything. If your child is still young enough to need a bottle of formula or expressed breast milk, the chiller pack is an absolute must, as it allows you to take bottles ready sterilized and prepared safely. And don't forget drinks for adults, too. Did you think about cupholders and your own needs when you thought about stroller rental - Disney World has some good cafés and some good coffee-to-go, and you don't want to miss out.
A map. Walt Disney World Resort is a big place. As we said before, the resort as a whole contains four main theme parks. You'll need a map to make sure that you don't get lost and to make sure that you can find all the attractions you really want to quickly and easily. Wallet and keys. You probably have already realized that you need these. It's good to put them somewhere you can reach them easily.
This list is all a bit daunting, but as a parent, you're probably used to all the logistics involved in taking children out and about. Baby Wheels Orlando tries to do its bit to help you by making sure that the City Mini strollers in our rental fleet have plenty of luggage space, a chiller pack and parent console as free optional extras, and the hood on each stroller (and that includes the double strollers) is big enough to keep off rain and sun: we can sort everything out when it comes to stroller rental Disney World.
